Housing Development

Discovery CE have a long lasting relationship with a house building company which specialises in the development of brownfield sites.  DCE have been involved in site investigation and subsequent validation testing of stockpiles and clean cover on site to confirm compliance with the approved remediation strategy. DCE are also involved in the validation and supervision of the installation of gas protective membranes on site.

We have provided these services to this client and their numerous sites across the West Midlands for in excess of 6 years and look forward to many more years of working together.

Discovery CE routinely provide services for Housing Development Sites. This project in Houghton Regis was for a proposed 100 plot development.

Discovery CE was commissioned by DSM Demolition Group to carry out a combined geotechnical and environmental site investigation, carry out quantitative risk assessment, piling risk assessment, rock face stability assessment and prepare a remediation strategy & subsequent validation of the remediation at the site. A key consideration in the assessment of the site was the presence of a former landfill and the sensitive nature of the underlying aquifer and adjacent lake.

Discovery CE was successful in obtaining regulatory approval on this complex site.

Remediation Strategy

Discovery CE undertook an intrusive site investigation for a proposed housing development comprising 30 No. houses in Newent, Gloucestershire.  DCE were on site for several days undertaking Dynamic Sampling, Trial Pitting, Soakaway and Dynamic Cone Penetrometer testing and returned on 6 No. occasions for gas and groundwater monitoring.

Chemical and geotechnical testing was undertaken on samples collected during the site investigation from which a contaminated land risk assessment and foundation design were developed.

Site Investigation

This small 12 plot housing development in Matlock was constructed in a former limestone quarry. Discovery provided site investigation services including a Phase 1 Desk study and intrusive investigation.

A remediation strategy was prepared submitted and approved by the local authority comprising the provision of a clean cover system in garden and soft landscaped areas.

The contract was successfully completed and approved by the Local Authority to allow sign off of the relevant contaminated land planning conditions.
