The investigation area comprised of a former open cast quarry which was backfilled via unknown operations between 1984 and 1993. DCE investigations across the site revealed Made Ground depths to between 86 and 90 m bgl. DCE were appointed to design a ground improvement strategy for the development of an industrial unit on site with financial, time and special constraints. Following assessment of the suitability of different ground improvement strategies DCE developed a successful unique ground improvement strategy which allowed delivery of the project within time and budget. As a result of our successful ground improvement on site traditional pad foundations can be used for the proposed development which will be constructed late 2019.
