Discovery CE are undertaking 5 No. ‘Skip’ Zone Load Tests at the site at Lichfield Road, Stafford. Testing will comprise of the loading, monitoring and unloading 5 No. 1.7m long by 1.5m wide and 250mm thick concrete slab (‘Dummy Foundations’) loaded by Bellway with concrete blocks to a maximum pressure of 75 kN/m2 and monitored by precise levelling.
There will be a total number of 22 – 25 No. visits throughout the course of this project. Concrete blocks were stacked onto each slab to apply an imposed load of 70kn/m2 which is in excess of 1.2 x the typically adopted design bearing pressure for rafts on fill (50 kn/m2) .
