The location of this job was in the bustling heart of Royal Leamington Spa, at the time, the location of site was occupied by a clothing store. The proposed development was understood to be the construction of a six storey mixed commercial and residential development and basement car park area. The development included the underpinning or replacement of existing retaining walls, construction of a new retaining wall, foundation design recommendations and different geotechnical parameters such as ground strength being evaluated. What we have here is a dynamic sampling rig in a very small shed (just about!). Our engineers were supervising the boring of one hole into the Tarpoley Siltstone Formation.

Made Ground was first encountered followed by Sandstone found within the Tarpoley Siltstone Formation. However, what is most interesting is the cavities and statining witnessed within the calcerous sections of the sandstone.

After DCE’s recommendations were complete the construction of the The Hide was able to proceed, the apartment buildings were completed in mid-2021. For more details please visit their website.
