Discovery also include The Coal Authority Mining reports in our health and safety RAMs. The Coal Authority provides a database of past and present coal mining activities, the information being highly important for ground investigation on high risk Brownfield sites. A coal mining risk assessment will be required for any proposed residential, commercial or industrial development within a designated high-risk area.

High risk sites include known/ suspected shallow coal mining, recorded mineshafts, mine entries, outcrops and seams, surface coal resource as well as Development High Risk areas. The British Geological Survey (BGS) are used in conjunction with the Coal Authority Mining report, allowing us to understand geological and mining conditions for the area.
